Sympathy card using Spellbinders dies

 I cut out several Spellbinders dies from white cardstock.

 Using a blending brush I added violet ink to the edges.  The flower is from Heartfelt Creations.

Final card and I used Prills in the center of the flower.

Art Impression images to make a Get Well card and colored with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol

 I have my supplies out and am ready to make a few cards.

 I stamped with Gina K Designs amalgam ink in black using my Misti stamp positioner.

 I filled the Tim Holtz alcohol blender with gamsol and colored with Prismacolor pencils.

 I outlined with pencil and began to blend with gamsol.

 Finished coloring now and I scribbled with a dark pencil under images as they are floating in the air.

 Using a blending brush I went around the card.

 Finished cards.  The one on the left has the blending; the one on the right I scribbled a frame around it.

Children's Fabric Book I made for a 2 year old, Eloise.

Here is a video at the request of my rubberstamping artist friends in the group: LoveArtFriendsInternational@yahoogroups.com on the oil pastel and baby oil technique.

I had lots of fun making all of these backgrounds.  I started with oil pastels then Stencil Girl Stencils and used Distress Inks or Pan Pastels.  The metallic gold Pan Pastels are yummy but don't photo well.

The photo on the top left is scribbling with oil pastels on a manilla file folder.  The next photo is using a cotton ball with baby oil to blend.  The final is using a stencil and Distress Inks.  You could also use chalk. If you stamp, be sure to use a permanent ink like Memories or StaZon.  NOTE: embellishments need to be adhered with something similar to Crystal Laquer as the oil won't allow a good bond. This is a fun and quick technique!

Here are some wonderful cards I received for my birthday.

"Where is Cameroon?"  That's a question David Begg has been answering a lot, and he knows the answer.  In January, 2011 David will be returning to Cameroon for the third time.  Since his first trip in 2009 he has developed a real passion for doing mission work in this West-Central African country.

 

  During that first mission trip in 2009, David visited the St Joseph Children and Adult Hospital in the village of Bafut.  This Catholic hospital is an extraordinary center of healing, especially noteworthy for reconstructive surgeries and rehabilitation work.  The hospital also has a school for blind children, a shoe shop, a prosthesis shop, and occupational training.  What the hospital doesn't have is a proper medical incinerator.

 

  David returned from his 2010 trip with a task that he believes God has lead him to complete.  He is seeking help in purchasing a medical incinerator for the St Joesph Hospital.  The hospital is currently burning their waste in an open pit.  David explained, "It is a sad irony that this important medical center is doing so much good work and also polluting the environment of the very people it is serving".  Then with a broad smile he said, "God is so amazing!"  David's story is one that is best heard directly from him, but it includes the connections that "fell into place" to help the hospital get an incinerator. 

 

 The challenge is raising the $4,000 needed to purchase the incinerator.  David was talking to me about the project when Tim Lawler stopped by.  Tim encouraged him to speak to the Knights of Columbus, and they have agreed to both receive donations for the project and facilitate the money transfer to Cameroon.  David has pledged $1,000.  We have been invited to help raise the balance.  It will take two months just to produce the special bricks used to construct the incinerator. However, the project can be completed before David returns to Cameroon.  This is great news because David will be able to inspect the incinerator in January and give a personal report when he returns from his trip.

 

  We need $3,000 to complete the project.  Can you help?
